Fuel scarcity’ll end soon – Gov Oyebanji

…gives condition of implementing new minimum wage for workers

The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji has assured the residents of the state that scarcity of premium motor spirit popularly known as petrol will end soon.

Oyebanji gave the assurance on Wednesday during the May Day 2024 celebration held at Ekiti Parapo pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital.

Speaking at the programme themed: ‘People First’ he said: “I sympathize with the good people of Ekiti, it’s actually beyond our control and we are doing anything humanly possible to take the product to the state but the message we got this morning is that the product is not available in the country and they will start lifting by tomorrow.

“In the next few days, I expect this to ease. I will just appeal to them to be patient and to be calm”.

The Governor also added that he will implement new minimum wage award for workers in the state once there is a directive from the headquarters of National Labour Congress (NLC).

“There will be implementation of new minimum wage award once directive is given by the National.

“I expect NLC at the National level to communicate to their state bodies and they will now sit with the state government and take position on that.

“The moment we agree with NLC in Ekiti, we will implement it”.
