Norwegian Court Jails Nigerian Footballer Daniel Daga for Six Months Over Sexual Assault

A court in Norway has sentenced Nigerian footballer Daniel Daga to six months in prison after finding him guilty of sexual activity without consent.

The verdict was delivered on Tuesday by the Romsdal District Court, which also ordered the 19-year-old to pay 10,000 kroner in legal costs.

Daga, a midfielder for Molde FK, joined the club ahead of the 2025 season and made 17 appearances last year. He has also represented Nigeria at youth level, including at the U-20 World Cup.

Through his lawyer, the player has filed an appeal, meaning the judgment is not yet legally binding as the case proceeds in the Norwegian legal system.

Molde earlier removed the player from training and matches and said he will remain out of the squad pending the outcome of the legal process.
