Biodun Oyebanji has inaugurated 5,000 grassroots mobilisers to canvass house-to-house support ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The mobilisers, drawn from communities across the state, were unveiled at an event organised by the Ekiti State Bureau of Community Communications at the Fajuyi Pavilion.

Speaking at the inauguration, Oyebanji described the initiative as a historic grassroots mobilisation effort driven by voluntary support rather than government funding.
“You are not just party members; you are volunteers who believe in continuing a government that is doing well,” the governor said.

He emphasised that democratic mandates are time-bound and require renewal through continuous engagement with citizens.
Oyebanji also acknowledged the support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying his administration had benefitted from the president’s backing.
According to him, modern elections require structured, data-driven mobilisation rather than reliance solely on rallies, urging the canvassers to focus on identifying and engaging voters ahead of the poll.
The governor expressed confidence that the strategy could deliver at least 500,000 votes in the election, while urging political actors to maintain peace throughout the process.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Osho Omotosho, said the canvassers were recruited from markets, faith-based organisations and professional groups to strengthen direct voter engagement through house-to-house campaigns.
She added that each canvasser is expected to mobilise at least 25 voters, potentially delivering about 125,000 votes for the governor.
Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye; Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye; and other political and religious leaders.
