ADC Gains Ground as LP Leaders, Thousands Dump Parties

The African Democratic Congress has recorded major defections in Akwa Ibom and Kaduna states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In Akwa Ibom, all 31 chapter chairmen of the Labour Party declared for the ADC during the unveiling of the Obidient movement and party structures in Uyo on Saturday. The event was attended by former presidential candidate Peter Obi.

The party said the chairmen joined voluntarily, citing Obi’s leadership qualities and vision for Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, over 23,000 members from the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party resigned to join the ADC in Lere Local Government Area.

The defectors were received by ADC officials, who described the development as a significant political realignment that strengthens the party’s position ahead of 2027.
