The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man from a river along the Osin/Laduba axis in Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The incident was reported on Thursday afternoon by officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment. According to the Fire Service Public Relations Officer, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the distress call was received at about 2:42pm.
Firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene and retrieved the body of a male believed to be about 43 years old.

Adekunle said the remains were handed over to officials of the Ministry of Environment for necessary procedures, while health workers fumigated the body and surrounding area to ensure public and environmental safety.
Reacting, the Director of the Fire Service, CFS Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to exercise caution around water bodies and promptly report emergencies. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives through collaboration with relevant authorities.
The incident comes months after firefighters recovered another body from the Asa River in Ilorin in October 2025.
