FUOYE VC Ogunwole Declares War on Violence, Indiscipline

The new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, has vowed to confront violence, academic indiscipline and misconduct threatening the institution’s reputation.

Speaking at his inauguration on Wednesday, Ogunwole said FUOYE has recently attracted public attention for reasons inconsistent with academic values, including declining civility, erosion of decorum and disregard for authority. He noted that these issues have overshadowed the university’s achievements in teaching, research and innovation, leading to institutional embarrassment and loss of public trust.

The Vice-Chancellor warned that behaviours that bring the university into disrepute, especially on social and public platforms, will no longer be tolerated. He stressed that his administration will enforce institutional rules and ethical standards consistently to restore order, strengthen governance and reposition FUOYE for national and global recognition.
