The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has temporarily suspended the selection of examination towns in Ekiti State for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The suspension, announced on Tuesday in Abuja, follows the discovery of structural anomalies in the configuration of examination towns within the state, according to JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
Benjamin explained that the measure would allow the board to restructure the affected examination towns to ensure closer proximity to candidates and ease transportation challenges during the examination period.
He noted that although candidates are typically allowed to choose examination towns nearest to their locations, the 2026 UTME registration had already commenced before the anomalies were detected, making urgent adjustments necessary in the interest of candidates.
As a result, candidates will be unable to select any examination town in Ekiti State while the restructuring process is ongoing, a situation JAMB said would be resolved shortly.
The board apologised for any inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving its processes to ensure candidates are treated with dignity and fairness throughout the registration exercise.
