Super Eagles Skipper Wilfred Ndidi Loses Father

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has lost his father, Sunday Ndidi, who died on Tuesday following a road accident in Delta State.

The retired military officer was reportedly involved in the crash in Umunede and was confirmed dead after being taken to a hospital in Agbor.

Ndidi’s club, Besiktas, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, describing the death as a tragic loss and extending condolences to the midfielder and his family.

Ndidi recently led Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he scored his first international goal. The midfielder had earlier dedicated a goal celebration to his father, citing his admiration for former Super Eagles captain Kanu Nwankwo.

Born and raised in Lagos, Ndidi has often spoken about growing up with his father in the barracks.
