Anambra 2025: LP Governorship Candidate George Moghalu Resigns

The Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the November 2025 Anambra election, Dr George Moghalu, has formally resigned from the party.

Moghalu conveyed his decision in a letter dated January 26, 2026, addressed to the Labour Party chairman of his ward, Uruagu, Nnewi, Anambra State.

In the letter, the former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority expressed gratitude to the party at the ward, state and national levels for giving him the platform to contest the off-cycle governorship election.

He described the resignation, which takes immediate effect, as a respectful decision and appreciated the support and cooperation he received from party leaders and members during the campaign.

“I write to formally inform you of my resignation from the Labour Party, effective January 26, 2026,” Moghalu stated, while conveying his regards to party members.
