Amotekun Nabs 16 Alleged Bandits With Cattle in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has arrested 16 suspected bandits from Kwara State who were allegedly planning to relocate to Ekiti.

According to a statement on Wednesday by the corps’ Director of Information, Adeleye, the suspects were sighted with their cattle around Gede Farm settlement in Isan-Ekiti, causing panic in the community.

Amotekun operatives were subsequently reinforced from nearby outposts and mobilised to Oye Local Government Area, where the suspects were apprehended.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed that they fled Kwara State following intensified security operations against banditry, admitting involvement in cattle rustling targeting local herders.

Items recovered from them included cash, seven mobile phones, assorted charms, three VGN identity cards and herds of cattle.

They have been handed over to the Rapid Response Squad of the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado-Ekiti for further investigation.
