Super Eagles Fall to Hosts Morocco in AFCON Semi-Final Shootout

Nigeria’s Super Eagles crashed out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday after losing 4–2 on penalties to host nation Morocco following a tense 0–0 draw at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

The semi-final remained deadlocked through regulation and extra time, with Morocco enjoying more attacking dominance. Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Yassine Bounou produced key saves to keep the contest level. Nigeria’s hopes faded in the shootout after Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno missed, sending Morocco into the final.
