Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has launched the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem Appeal Fund, calling on Nigerians to honour fallen heroes by supporting veterans and their families.

The emblem was unveiled on Thursday at the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti, marking the start of activities for the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of serving and retired military personnel through partnerships with the Nigerian Legion and other stakeholders.

Oyebanji announced a donation of ₦5 million to kick-start the appeal and urged individuals, organisations, and community groups to contribute generously.

He also stressed the importance of peace, unity, and collective responsibility in strengthening security, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts toward national stability.

Earlier, the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, described the occasion as a moment to honour the sacrifices of military personnel, while the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in Ekiti, Mr. Atoki Abdurazak, thanked the governor for his continued support.

The ceremony drew top government officials, traditional rulers, security chiefs, and members of the Nigerian Legion.
