Atletico Madrid have announced the death of club legend Enrique Collar at the age of 91.
In a statement on Monday, the club described Collar as a symbol who helped take Atletico to the heights of Spanish and European football.
The former left winger scored 105 goals in 470 appearances for Atletico between 1953 and 1969 and captained the side for a decade, making him the club’s longest-serving captain.
Collar played a key role in Atletico’s Copa del Rey triumphs in 1960, 1961 and 1965, including scoring in the 1960 final win over rivals Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. He also led the club to the 1965/66 La Liga title and the 1962 European Cup Winners’ Cup.

He earned 16 caps for Spain and featured at the 1962 World Cup in Chile, retiring in 1970 after a season with Valencia.
