Reps Renew Push to Empower Youth, Fight Corruption

The House of Representatives Committee on Anti-Corruption has pledged stronger legislative action to equip Nigerian youths for national development.

Speaking at the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day in Abuja, Committee Chairman Moshood Akiolu said the 10th House, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, is intensifying efforts to boost transparency, strengthen legal frameworks and expand civic education that helps young people identify and report corruption.

ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu, represented by Sulieman Achile, warned that corruption continues to drain public resources, weaken institutions and limit opportunities for young Nigerians.

Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mainasara Kogo, urged youths to build practical skills, noting that academic qualifications alone are no longer enough in a fast-changing global economy.

Despite their large numbers, Nigerian youths still face high unemployment, limited training access and minimal representation—problems worsened by corruption. Speakers called for reforms that translate government promises into real opportunities.
