
The Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, has constituted a seven-member panel to investigate allegations by patient Joshua Afolayan, who claims his kidney was removed during a recent surgical procedure at the facility.
A statement issued by the hospital’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Rolake Adewumi, confirmed the inauguration of the panel by the Chairman of the Management Board, Dr. Adedamola Dada.
According to the statement, the panel is chaired by Prof. Francis Faduyile, an anatomic pathologist from Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. Other members include Prof. Patrick Temi Adegun of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti; Dr. Henry Abiyere of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti; and Dr. Adebola Adeniyi-Agbaje, General Manager of Progress FM, Ado-Ekiti.
Also on the panel are Reverend Emmanuel Aribasoye, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (Ekiti State chapter); High Chief (Prof.) Babatunde Akindele, the Elemo of Ado-Ekiti; and Barr. Adebayo Titilayo of the Ekiti State Ministry of Health, who will serve as secretary.
The panel has ten days to conduct its inquiry and submit its report.
EKSUTH management assured the public that the investigation will be thorough, impartial, and transparent, noting that all members of the panel are independent, respected figures within the community. It urged all parties involved, as well as the general public, to cooperate fully as the hospital works to clarify the circumstances surrounding the allegation.
