Diddy Begins Four-year Prison Sentence in New Jersey

Sean “Diddy” Combs transferred to Fort Dix prison in New Jersey.

US hip-hop star Sean “Diddy” Combs has been moved to a low-security federal prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to serve his four-year, two-month prison sentence for prostitution-related crimes, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The facility, about 130 kilometers south of New York City, is known for its rehabilitation programs. Combs is expected to remain there until May 8, 2028, under what officials described as standard custody for his case.

Diddy’s Conviction and Apology

The rapper and music mogul was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He was, however, acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

Before sentencing, a tearful Sean “Diddy” Combs told the court he was “disgusted and ashamed” of his behavior, apologizing to his family and victims. His prison sentence includes time already served in a Brooklyn jail.

Combs has appealed the conviction and sentence.

Diddy’s incarceration marks a turning point in the life of one of hip-hop’s most influential figures. Once celebrated for his chart-topping hits and business empire, the rapper now faces the challenge of reflection and rehabilitation behind bars.

Legal analysts suggest that his appeal could take months, but for now, Diddy must adjust to prison life under federal supervision at Fort Dix. The case has reignited conversations about accountability and celebrity privilege within the entertainment industry.

Fans remain divided — some expressing disappointment, others hopeful for his redemption. As the countdown to his potential release in 2028 begins, observers say the outcome of his appeal will determine whether Diddy can rebuild his legacy or remain defined by the scandal that led to his imprisonment.
