
The Ekiti State House of Assembly has revealed that the bill seeking the upgrade of College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti (COHESTI) to Polytechnic has passed first reading.
The Education Committee of the Assembly revealed this while visiting the principal officers of the Institution.
The Committee Chairman, Adeyemi Awoniyi assured that the legislative arm would expedite action on the bill to transmute the College into a Polytechnic.
Awoniyi who appreciated the State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for his giant strides in the education sector, especially at the tertiary level, expressed optimism that the anticipated Polytechnic status would open up Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti to more benefits.
Applauding the leadership of the Assembly in educational development, COHESTI acting provost, Folake Oladapo noted that the smooth working relationship between the Lawmakers and Governor Biodun Oyebanji had continued to yield the much desired results.
The Librarian, Folorunsho Olayinka also signified the readiness of the Institution for the anticipated upgrade of the College into a Polytechnic.
The Management team highlighted the steps that had so far been taken as well as the mechanisms already put in place to ensure smooth take-off of the Polytechnic as soon as the bill currently before the Ekiti State House of Assembly is passed into law.
Other principal officers receiving the delegates include, the College Bursar – Dr Funmilayo Alonge, the Director of Works, Engr. Dare Adu, the College Legal Officer, Barr. Moses Adeojo as well as Deans, Directors and some Heads of Departments.
