
Eleven inmates at the Kuje Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory have undergone successful hernia surgeries as part of a medical initiative by the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The procedures, which took place on June 8 and 9, were carried out by a team of medical personnel from the Correctional Service.
According to a statement signed by the spokesperson for NCoS FCT Command, Adamu Duza, and released on Thursday, the surgeries were conducted in line with standard clinical protocols and aimed at improving the health and well-being of the inmates.
“In furtherance of its commitment to the health, welfare, and human dignity of persons in custody, the Nigerian Correctional Service has successfully carried out hernia surgeries on eleven inmates at the Kuje Custodial Centre, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“The procedures were conducted by a team of skilled Correctional medical personnel on the 8th and 9th of June, 2024.
“The medical outreach, executed with utmost professionalism and adherence to established clinical standards, exemplifies the NCoS resolve to ensure that inmates have access to quality healthcare services in line with global best practices and human rights protocols,”
