
Panic has taken over Yagba west local government area of Kogi state as a notable first-class traditional ruler, Oba James Dada Ogunyanda, the Obalohun of Okoloke was kidnapped early morning by unknown gunmen in his resident.
The abduction is one out of many that had happened recently which has caused apprehension in the minds of the residents.
A source who identified himself as Lucky Omoyele revealed that Oba Ogunyanda was abducted very early on Thursday Thursday.
Omoyele explained that a group of heavily armed men stormed the monarch’s palace in Okoloke, a serene community in Yagba west local government area, at about 2:00 a.m. and took away the monarch.
The assailants was said to have overpowered the palace guards and forcibly whisked the traditional ruler away to an unknown location yet to be identified.
He said that the kidnappers are yet to make contact nor issue any ransom demands, but concerned citizens in the community gathered at the palace in prayer and urging government to intervene in rescuing their abducted King.
The Kogi State Police Command who confirmed the incident, announced that an investigation is underway, noting that a joint task force comprising security personnel and local vigilantes has also begun a manhunt to locate and rescue the monarch.
Also , the chairman of Yagba west local government, Tosin Olokun, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyemi Sunday, condemned the abduction of the monarch by unknown armed bandits.
He acknowledged that the persistent attack on the council area by gunmen was due to the porous border it shared with Kwara State.
