Niger Police Foil Multiple Crimes: Arrest Robbery, Theft Suspects, Rescue Kidnap Victims

The Niger State Police Command has continued its stride in combating criminal activities across the state, overcoming multiple terrors in recent days involving armed robbery, vehicle and tricycle theft, and the rescue of kidnapped victims.

Three Arrested for Armed Robbery and Car Snatching,On May 4, 2025, at about 12:30 a.m., operatives attached to Tafa Division apprehended three suspects—Umar Mukhtar (25), Shuaibu Ahmed (30), both of Okada Road, Minna, and Mohammed Ibrahim Abba (25) of Tafa, Kaduna State—at Dikko Junction with a suspected stolen white Toyota Camry

During interrogation, Mukhtar confessed that on May 3, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., he and Shuaibu were led by one Mustapha from Angwan-Kaje area of Minna to a residence in Bosso Estate for a robbery operation. Mustapha was armed with a toy gun, while the other two wielded screwdrivers.

They demanded money from the victims, but when none was available, they hijacked a Toyota Camry (Reg. No. KNT 785 SN) as the victim’s wife drove in. Mustapha locked the victims in the toilet to prevent them from raising an alarm, while Mukhtar and Shuaibu drove off with the vehicle. Investigations revealed that Abdulaziz had gone to a mosque in Dakwa on May 2, 2025, under the guise of attending morning prayers. While prayers were ongoing, he slipped out and stole a tricycle (Reg. No. GUS 16 VC).

The stolen tricycle was intercepted during a stop-and-search operation at Maje Bridge. Abdulaziz later confessed that he intended to hand it over to Abubakar Mohammed, who was to facilitate its sale in Katsina State.
